Event Details

Learn about the importance of freshwater conservation through an interaction with our Lake Sturgeon! The lake sturgeon is a species that has remained virtually unchanged since swimming alongside the dinosaurs, but populations of this fish have declined due to pollution, habitat destruction and overharvesting. WAVE Foundation has collaborated with Saving Local Waters and Tennessee Aquarium to bring this locally extinct freshwater fish to our community, sharing their incredible story of decline and reintroduction! This program focuses on freshwater conservation initiatives, discussing local extinctions, and sharing how you can help protect your local watershed.
